About

Education is my passion. With 20 years of classroom teaching experience, in both middle and high school settings, I taught at a wide variety of schools, from suburban public schools to a Montessori independent school to a charter preparatory high-school for underserved populations.  Additionally, I was a school administrator, working at Marin Montessori School as their Junior High Director.  Most recently, I have worked with Bay Area independent schools as a Site Coordinator for their CAIS self-studies.  I have a Masters in Math Education and Montessori Certification in Adolescent Education.  Additionally, I hold a CA Single Subject Clear Credential in Secondary Mathematics.

An experienced CAIS facilitator, I am skilled at helping schools execute a self-study process that is efficient, reflective, growth oriented and successful. For my clients, I develop a customized CAIS instrument: a timeline that breaks down the CAIS process into digestible benchmarks with clear deliverables. Working closely with your school’s CAIS point person, I ensure the voices of all relevant team members are incorporated through well-defined roles and structured collaboration for each step. The end result is a cohesive, in depth CAIS self-study that not only fulfills the state’s requirements, but also goes beyond the CAIS process to generate a plan for guiding effective functioning and future growth for your school.

My varied background in education makes me uniquely equipped to support your school through  the accreditation process. I am an educator with over two decades of experience as a math teacher, a curriculum designer, a math department lead, a school administrator and a CAIS Site Coordinator. Having participated in many accreditation reviews as both a classroom teacher and administrator, I have deep insight into both of these essential roles in the CAIS process.  Critically, I have experience both acting as and working with all the stakeholders in the process: teachers, administrators, board of trustees, and parents. The breadth of my background and my CAIS experience have taught me the ins-and-outs of the process and just how arduous it can be for teachers, staff, boards and administrators to navigate the self-study process while simultaneously managing the rigors of educating your students. I know how the high stakes of an accreditation review adds to the already heavy load.

Without a doubt, school accreditation can feel bureaucratic, stressful and time consuming. Although I can skillfully guide that process, the process can be so much more than CAIS success.  Supported appropriately, accreditation can be a purposeful time to reflect on and facilitate a commitment to self-study and improvement. My experience in different mission driven schools enables me to facilitate a process to identify what uniquely positions your school to succeed, what areas you want to continue to improve on, and how to clearly convey your school’s unique commitment to self-study in a manner that represents and resonates beyond your school’s culture.

I am passionate about supporting schools in the CAIS process and continuing to learn all the powerful ways our schools are working to serve our children.
